August 31, 2005: Had a great time last weekend. On Saturday morning drove down to West Lake Village (outside of LA, 340 miles South of here) to see Adam "Skinny Daug" Arnold. Main purpose of the trip was to attend the pirate themed dock hop party out on the lake (about 20 minutes from his place). We met up with his friend Doug and Adam's brother Michael and we had one hell of a great time!!!! LOL, much rum was consumed and much silliness was had by all! LOL, what a crazy fun night!
And the next morning, at 8:45 AM, I drove 340 miles back home :)
LOL, I'm definitely a little crazy sometimes :)
On to September! :>
August 24, 2005: Well this past weekend was freaking awesome! On Wednesday night I flew into Cincinnati, OH and was picked up at the airport by Bill "Spidey" Wright.
It was great to see my bro as it had been quite a while since our last visit together. After a quick stop by he and his wife Cathy's new place, we were off to Scott (aka Perky) and Tanya Seidel's place for dinner. There we met up with our hosts along will Bill's wife Cathy and their friends Kevin and Kim. That night we had dinner together, hung out and did a lot of catching up. Made for a nice first night together
Next day, Bill and I spent most of it just hanging out together. We went out into Cincinnati for a bit and hit a few stores. Later on that day, we met up with the crew from the night before and went out to a really cool show called at a local non-profit theatre called the Shadowbox Cabert. The show was really good and it made for a fun night!
On Friday morning, Bill and I hit the liquor store and picked up the rest of the ingredients we'd need for our punch. LOL, and we picked up some grain alcohol and rum to marinate our fruit in! Hehehe, 6 pineapples and 5 lbs of apples later, we had some tasty fruit marinating in a witches brew. I called Paul a couple of times to check on the right way to prepare this, as he is "the Fruit Guy" and he (and I) were still pretty bummed at him not being able to come out to the show (I hate going to see Jimmy without him!) So I had a bright idea (happens every once in a while). I talked to Bill and Cathy to see if they' had any extra buddy passes available for flying Paul out. Cathy said she did and kindly offered one up and so after checking flight availability, we called Paul back and made the offer to fly him out here the next morning for the show! Hehehe, well it took him all of about a minute to make up his mind on that offer!
That night, we headed over to a local Parrot Head part at Coney Island (same venue as where the concert would be held the next night). We had ourselves a grand ol' time drinking lots of Jim Beam and ginger ales, listening to some excellent Buffett cover bands and to top it off, we scored Paul a ticket for the show! Hehehe, talk about a perfect night!!!
Heheeh, next morning got off to a bit of a late start since Paul was just a wee bit hung over from the previous nights drinking, But like a good drunk, he got himself ready and we were off to the concert by 11:00 AM. Around noon, we all had our first drinks and by 2:00 PM we were realizing it was going to be a long, strange, happy, very Inebriated day (and it was!!!!). LOL, here are a few crazy picts from the day (and more to be posted soon):
The concert was pretty freaking awesome! My favorite song of the night (next to "A Pirate Looks at 40" of course), was when he played Banana Republic. That was most sweet! The worst song of the night was when he played a cover of Dave Matthews "Jimi Thing". ICK! That was not one of his better covers.
<YAWN!> OK, I do have a bunch more to write but right now I'm freaking tired, so I'll pick up from here tomorrow and finish up this post.
For now, I leave you with these pretty amazing pictures supplied by Daniel Romine. He and his family just got back from an amazing trip to the Galapagos Islands. Here are a few of the many pictures they shared with me. Hope you enjoy!
August 17, 2005: Well it's been a crazy busy fun and nuts past couple of weeks. Let me see if I can recall what's been going on:
Tuesday the 9th I had dinner with the Romine family. It was a lot of fun to hang out with them all for an evening before they got ready to take off for the Galapagos Islands! They left later on that week for a 10 day family trip out to the Galapagos Islands. I'm sure they are going to have a blast!!
On Wednesday, Justin's brother Christopher flew out to the Bay Area for a visit. He's going to be out here for a few weeks, taking a bit of well deserved R&R before heading back to the craziness known as his life in CT.
That Thursday I had dinner with Ashish, Jill, Nikhil and Ajay. Always a fun night!
On Saturday Dave Crenshaw arrived in town around 9:00 AM. Dave flies for FedEx and currently holds the position of First Officer (soon to be Captain). He was in town for a day + layover so it was a perfect opportunity for us to hang out. I picked him up near the airport and after a quick stop over at Ashish and Jill's house (so that he could change out of his uniform), it was off for a tour of the SF Bay area. LOL, it would figure that the one day that Dave would be here, we were fogged in! As we headed up into SF, the entire city was fogged in. I figured we'd try and wait it off so we headed over to Noe Valley where we had a fantastic breakfast at Savour. My favorite waiter (also named David) took good care of us and after a tasty meal and a few mimosa's, we headed off to Twin Peaks.
LOL, as you can see, we didn't have much luck on top of Twin Peaks. You couldn't see anything! So, we headed over to the Golden Gate Bridge. Hehehe, well at least here we could see sorta see the bridge, but the city was still totally fogged in.
Well, I finally gave up on showing Dave the city, so we took Route 1 down the coast to Half Moon Bay and happily, the fog began to lift and we go to enjoy a bit of the scenery :-)
and Dave had:
We enjoyed a nice bottle of 2003 Melville Pinot Noir over dinner and for desert, we shared the following:
and yes, the dinner was fantastic! After that meal, we headed back to my place and just crashed out. The next morning, I made breakfast and then took Dave back to the airport where he caught a commercial flight back to Memphis. All in all, it was a great visit :D
This past week was a long week at work, and let's just leave it at that. I can happily say I am PSYCHED to be heading out to see Spidey for a little R&R (oh yeah, and a Jimmy Buffett concert!) tomorrow. Expect a full update when I get back :-)
I hope all is well in your world :-)
August 7, 2005: Well hello there :-) Hmmm, August already, eh? Guess I'll have to start shopping for XMas presents soon cause this year seems to be flying by!
Last weekend was a nice weekend. On Saturday ended up hanging out with my friend Chris Morton and going to a TX Hold'em poker game down in San Jose. It's a pretty fun group that he and I play with and this is the second time I've ended up getting together with this group. We got there around 5:30 PM and left around mid night. LOL, it was a long, fun evening of playing cards, but it was fun!
On Sunday, I just hung out and relaxed and enjoyed the weather (I think I may have done something else, but I forget :P )
Last week I worked during the day and kept busy just about every night. On Monday night I hung out with Alex and Simon. We ended up meeting in Dublin for dinner (LOL, buffalo wings and beer and Hooters!) Tuesday night I hung out with Justin. Wednesday night I spent the evening with Ashish and Jill. Thursday night attended a really fun dinner party at Jenn and Dave's house (great time! good people, great food and terrific margaritas!). Friday night I was up in Brentwood at Alex's place for night of cards with his nephew Josh and Simon.
Saturday I dropped my car off to get the wheels balanced, rotated and my front end aligned. While that was getting done, I went to the mall, got new lenses put into my sunglasses, bought a cool shirt at Hollister, and got an even cooler t-shirt at Hot Topics (it's got the evil monkey from Family Guy on it :) After that, I met up with my friend Benny for lunch and hung out with him for part of the afternoon which was really nice! Then I met up with the Romine family at a local swim meet where all three of their boys were competing (and of course, all three did really well!). That night, I hung out with the family and joined them for dinner.
Today is Sunday and instead of it being a day of rest (LOL, God can rest; I can't!) I'm meeting up with Rob and Susan in an hour and we're going up to Healdsburg to visit their friends Alexander and his wife Roberta for a BBQ. That will be an all day event and I'm looking forward to resting tonight :)
Hehehe, and next week, well, it's going to be another busy week. I'm already booked up with people to see/place to go each night after work. Yep, as Simon likes to say, "Penz, you're a social whore.... but I mean that in the nicest way possible! :-)
Last week I talked to Dave Crenshaw and I'm going to see him next weekend as he's flying into Oakland for work. I'm really looking forward to that! He and Jamie are working on their second child (another boy!) and all is good in their world. Also briefly spoke to Spidey. I'll be seeing him the following weekend out in Cincinnati for the Jimmy Buffett show! Also talked to Perky and I'm hoping to be able to see him for a night as he'll be flying/working over the weekend (damn pilots!).
LOL, and it was that time of the year for my brother Tim to be getting a new car. With the baby on the way, the Hummer H2 just wasn't going to cut it, soooooooo, introducing his new 2005 Audi Allroad Quattro! It's got every single option that can possibly come with the car and it is freaking sweet!!!
Heheheh, sweet ride! The suspension on this car is pretty wild. With a push of a button, you can raise the suspension 8" so that you get the same clearance as an SUV! How cool is that!?!?! Pretty damn cool :-) (and yeah, big brother is definitely a little bit jealous! I do miss my Audi sometimes :)
That's all for now!
