| June 27, 2000: Heheheh, well, doesn't look like I've been
keeping good notes this month, eh? Let me see if I can't recap some
of what's been going on!
It's been a busy month, with lots of things going on at work and outside of the office. Quintus has been keeping me nice and busy. We've got a new product release coming out in a day or two which has been keeping Technical Support (and everyone else) pretty busy as of late, getting ready to support our new technology. The months of July and August are gonna be very busy for me, and I'm sure time will fly by fast!
Well, I started the month with a visit from a Cellar Dwellar, Jim "Rico" Hynek, and I finished it with one as well, with the recent visit of William "Spidey" Wright! Bill flew out for the weekend from his home base in KY (hmmmm, funny name for a state :-). He's been keeping busy working for DHL Airways as a dispatcher. He's been there for a couple of months now, and so far, seems pretty happy with the switch.
On Sunday, we went to the Shoreline Ampitheatre were we got to see Roger Waters!! It was a kick ass concert!! Getting to see "the Floyd" in Pink Floyd was an incredible treat. He played songs from "The Wall" (hey Dano!), "The Final Cut", "Wish You Were Here" (was thinking of you Crenshaw!), "Amused to Death" (thinking of you Box!), and some of his new stuff. The music was just awesome..... and I was psyched that Spidey was there to share it with me.
Needless to say, we had a great visit together, and it was really really nice just to catch up with my bro. I've missed him hanging out with him over the past year, but as always, as soon as we got together, it was like we've never been apart.
On June 15, my new roommate for the summer came out from CT! My friend Justin, who was originally just coming out for a week long visit to prep for his move out here in the fall (transferring to San Jose State Univ.), asked me if he could crash at my pad for the summer. Well, considering I've got a 2 bed room apt. and no one to cook for as of late, I figured, what the hell! He's already found himself a job for the summer, slinging coffee at Starbucks down the street, so that'll help keep him out of trouble for a bit! Hahaha, I'm sure he's going to have a good summer out here, and he'll get a chance to get to know the surrounding area before school starts in the fall.
I briefly talked to Josh "Tucker" Smith this week. Hehehe, he was standing in the Atlantic ocean, with his cell phone, and decided to give me a ring! It was really nice to hear from him and in a nutshell, all is well with him. He's a happy pup, and I'm hella happy for him :-)
Saw a couple of movies this month. On Saturday, Spidey and I saw "Titan A.E". Kick ass movie! The animation, voices and the story kicked ass! Also saw "Gone in 60 Seconds" with Justin. That was a fun movie. Lot's of action and a lot of awesome freakin' cars. I saw "Gladiator" and that movie ROCKED! Talk about the first epic film of the new century. This film was done very well.
No big plans for the 4th of July weekend yet, but I'm sure something will turn up. Always does.
Looking ahead, let's see, no big plans for July or August yet. I'm sure I'll be planning another trip back East sometime soon. Probably will be in early September, if not earlier.
Otherwise, things are going well and life is good!
Hope all is well with you in your world. If so inspired, drop me a line and let me know how you're doing!
June 8, 2000: June! Hehehe, this year is cruising by too fast :-) All is going well here in Fremont, CA. Quintus stock is on the rise once again (yeah!), the apt. is good, friends are good and most everyone I know is doing well.
Had a great visit last weekend from Jim "Rico" Hynek. After a nasty flight out here (delayed by 5 hours!), he finally arrived here in CA at 1:30 on Thursday morning. Thursday night we went into Palo Alto for dinner at Taxi's (I don't know why I always end up taking people there, but hey, their bugers kick ass!), and for a stroll down University Avenue.
On Friday, I took a half day from work and we were off to Capitola for lunch, and into the Big Basin redwood forest for the afternoon.
On Saturday, we headed up into San Francisco, where we visited a couple of different fire houses, including Engine 2 in Chinatown, were we picked up some great t-shirts and got to chat with some really nice firemen. Jim, being a 'brother' himself, has a blast exchanging stories with the crews. After the city, it was up to the Marin Headleads where we spent a relaxing afternoon/early evening on the coast.
On Sunday, we met up with Chris, Brian, Jay, & Devery for brunch down in San Jose. After that, we kicked around for the afternoon at the local malls and basically hung out around town.
Monday evening, we went out and saw "Road Trip" (funny movie! heheh, milking the prostate!) and then on Tuedsday, Jim was on his way back home. It was really good to see him and to be able to do some catching up and hanging out.
This week has been very busy @ Quintus, and that's a good thing... though I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend :-)
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods :-) Drop a line :-)
The Kibbles and Bits section has been updated with quotes from Richard Bach's "Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah." (and special thanks to Brian Mobbs who some time agao ago, shared this tome of knowledge with me...). Check it out!
